25% of Delta Staff Enrolled in Further Education

Posted on 8th March 2018

As a member of the 5% Club, Delta Balustrades are committed to helping the country’s growth agenda. We believe in the importance of developing our people, addressing youth unemployment and tackling the skills shortage.

With an amazing 25% of our people enrolled on formalised apprenticeships and graduate development schemes, we asked our current apprentices for their thoughts on learning through application.

Lewis Turner, currently studying a Level 2 in Improving Operational Performance, came across the opportunity of an apprenticeship at Delta in his second year of college, whilst considering pursuing a career in manufacturing and production.

“Having the opportunity to ‘learn on the job’ has given me the chance to develop my knowledge in different areas of production, which will eventually allow me to narrow down to become an expert in a specified field.”

Harrison Knapper, Project Planner, took full advantage of the flexibility of an apprenticeship when studying for his Level 3 in Design and Draughting.

“Through the apprenticeship I have been able to concentrate my training into a 16-week period at the beginning rather than spread out throughout the year. I found this helpful as it gave me a head start on the knowledge of the job, as well as putting me in full time hours at an earlier stage.”

Delta Balustrades, alongside our training provider Total People, facilitate learning with allocated study days and reading material alongside expertise shared by long-standing staff members.

Stephen Boyt, Managing Director, stated “as an organisation we are dedicated to continued professional development and are pleased that so many members of the Delta team are taking part in further education.”

At Delta Balustrades “We get satisfaction from helping people succeed” – this is our ‘why’ – and through our own in-house Delta Academy we will continue to provide and implement further learning opportunities to staff at all levels.
