Because of the safety demands of the Underground environment, the nDura™ handrail coating was tested for health and safety as standard in addition to undergoing stringent fire testing requirements. The product also had to be tested for its suitability for use in public realm installations, considering factors such as maintenance, cleaning regimes and graffiti.
The approval means that our nDura™ handrail coating not only meets the requirements for use on TfL and London Underground schemes but for all transport infrastructure, urban environments and public realm schemes.
Since securing the approval the coating has been specified on numerous public realm projects including the £48 million Bolton Interchange transport hub, which houses a bus and rail interchange along with new cycling infrastructure.
