Delta Balustrades is responding to the growing construction sector emphasis on supply chain collaboration and continuous learning with the launch of the ‘Delta Academy’; a not for profit initiative designed to support best practice and knowledge sharing across the sector.
Launched with an inaugural Bite Sized CPD training day at the company’s Sandbach headquarters in Cheshire, the Delta Academy is the brainchild of managing director, Stephen Boyt and Associate Mark Deayton sees continuous learning as a core element in Delta Balustrades’ success and critical to the development of any business.
Explains Stephen Boyt: “According to American writer S.J. Perelman, learning is what most of us will do for a living in the 21st century. While members of our Academy will be construction professionals rather than academics, all of us will have to continue learning throughout our careers to keep up-to-date with new techniques, new technologies and innovative new thinking.
“We firmly believe that knowledge sharing and a collaborative approach to driving best practice are the best ways to continue raising standards in the construction sector, ensuring the built environment is more sustainable and more cost effective throughout its lifecycle.”
Delta Academy has brought together a diverse range of construction and supply chain professionals to deliver CPD presentations, live demonstrations and interactive workshops at the Bite Sized CPD event on 28th November. The free of charge event is designed as a taster day to highlight the type of content available from the Academy, which will be delivered as a regular programme of free events and online training modules
“The idea is that we make learning relevant and accessible to construction professionals at all levels and across all areas of the delivery chain,” Stephen adds. “That’s why the launch event has been designed with a variety of short CPDs, with topics including digitisation, fixings and glass loadings.”
Amongst the presentation team at the Delta Academy event will be a National Engineer for Willmott Dixon, who will give a talk on the importance of learning in the construction sector.
He adds: “Our Building on Better philosophy at Willmott Dixon puts continuous development at the heart of our company culture, along with a strong, open and positive relationship with our supply chain.
“The Delta Academy brings those principles together and we’re delighted to be able to support such a forward focused approach to collaboration and best practice.”
The Delta Academy Bite Sized CPD event takes place at Delta Balustrades on Tuesday 28th November.
