The Christie Paterson research building in Withington, Manchester, unfortunately suffered a devastating fire in 2017. Located on Wilmslow Road, the building which housed the Cancer Research UK Manchester institute “lost years of valuable research and equipment to the blaze leading to 300 scientists and support staff needing to be relocated” according to the Manchester Evening News.
Shortly after in 2018, The Christie, together with Cancer Research UK and The University of Manchester, revealed elaborate plans to re-develop the building into a world-class facility. Led by Vinci Construction, the £150m project re-defined research with a dynamic space which provides a collaborative, integrated dynamic, accelerating progress for cancer patients.
Our role in the project involved supplying and fitting:
Having previously supplied balustrades to Christie’s Treatment Centre in Manchester (see case study here), we were delighted to be specified a second time round and despite the unfortunate circumstances of this re-development project, we’re certain that this new and improved building will only accelerate the world leading research being produced.
