Following the unfortunate Grenfell Tower incident, it was revealed that external cladding installed on the 3 Lydstep Tower Blocks in Cardiff was not fit for purpose. Resultantly, the local council sought a solution through re-development – Delta were selected by the tier 1 main contractor due to, amongst other benefits, our strict compliance with the latest building regulations to provide balustrades for the flats during the first phase of local developments.

Delta’s role in the Lydstep Tower project involved the supply and install of Stainless Steel V-Bar Railing to the balconies and our ORBIS proprietary product to the internal stair cores of all 3 buildings. With a fierce desire to far exceed external fire-proofing and corrosion resistance compliance, a bespoke sub-product was devised from our typical ZETA V-Bar railing system to ensure a specification that went far beyond anything that would typically be required.

Our role in the project involved supplying and fitting:

  • 60 metres of powder coated ORBIS OS200 with a vertical bar infill and tubular handrail to the stair cores.
  • Over 500 metres (Almost 10x the metreage of the installed ORBIS) of a bespoke stainless steel vertical bar balustrade based on ZETA to the balconies.

It would be fair to say that Delta’s stainless steel vertical bar balcony design at 1.4m high makes a bold statement. See a close up in the video below:
